MSC Yacht Club: Guide to the ‘Ship Within a Ship’ of MSC Cruises

Born in 2008 aboard MSC Fantasia, the Yacht Club is today one of the most exclusive experiences offered by MSC Cruises. Present on most of the fleet’s most recent units, it represents the “ship within a ship” formula: a private area of the ship where guests find greater tranquility, personalized services, and standards comparable to luxury hotel service.

After spending a few days in the Yacht Club of MSC Preziosa, we gathered impressions and useful information to understand how this experience truly works.

How the Yacht Club works

Access is exclusively reserved for guests who purchase this package, but those staying in the Yacht Club can still freely enjoy the rest of the ship, participating in activities and using common areas.

Among the included services are a personal butler, 24-hour concierge, unlimited drinks package, unlimited internet connection, dedicated excursions, priority access for embarkation and disembarkation, reserved seating in the theater, and access to the thermal area.

On more recent ships, the Yacht Club has become even more integrated: the dedicated restaurant is located within the private area, near the Top Sail Lounge, a convenience highly appreciated by cruisers.

The Suites

Aboard MSC Preziosa, the Yacht Club occupies the highest and most panoramic part of the bow and includes 98 cabins, from Deluxe Suites to the two Royal Suites, the most prestigious accommodations.

However, the interiors reflect the ship’s age: dark colors, velvets, and more classic furnishings speak of a previous phase compared to the contemporary design adopted on new MSC ships. The next generations of smart ships, including MSC World Asia, instead focus on brighter, more spacious, and modern areas, with a wider variety of suite categories.

How much it costs

A Yacht Club cabin generally has a higher price compared to traditional accommodation: according to MSC, the cost can be approximately two and a half times that of a standard cabin, with significant variations depending on the ship, itinerary, and period.

For a seven-night cruise in Northern Europe, for example, a Deluxe Suite can start from several thousand euros, while Royal Suites reach much higher figures. Some optional expenses remain excluded, such as extra excursions, Spa treatments outside the package, or personal activities.

Who it’s for

The Yacht Club occupies a unique position in the world of cruises: it offers privacy and premium services without reaching the prices of pure luxury companies. It’s a solution designed for those who want the comfort of an exclusive ship, but also the possibility to access the entertainment and variety typical of large ships.

During the trip aboard MSC Preziosa, we met couples, families with children, and travelers of various nationalities: a diverse audience united by the desire for more personal space and attention to detail.

MSC’s Strategy

The Yacht Club also illustrates the evolution of the cruise industry. Ships have become increasingly larger and richer in attractions, but concurrently, the demand for reserved areas and more exclusive services has grown.

MSC is investing heavily in this model: new ships are expanding the spaces dedicated to the Yacht Club and increasing the number of available suites. MSC World America, for example, offers a larger and more contemporary Yacht Club compared to previous generations.

The goal is clear: to maintain the large ship experience, with its offering of restaurants, shows, and activities, while adding a more private and refined dimension.
