Norwegian Cruise Line premieres the Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay

Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled a sneak peek of the new Great Tides Waterpark, the water park at Great Stirrup Cay, the company’s private island in the Bahamas spanning over one million square meters. Ahead of its official opening on September 4, 2026, the event was attended by company executives, local authorities, and VIP guests such as football star Herschel Walker, hockey player Taylor Hall, and actor Josh Peck. Marc Kazlauskas, president of NCL, together with CEO John Chidsey, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, presenting a facility designed to combine adrenaline and relaxation for the whole family.

The park, which spans an area of 24,000 square meters, offers several record-breaking attractions. The main attraction is the Tidal Tower, a tower over 50 meters tall with eight breathtaking slides including the Tropic Spiral, which spins rafts in multiple directions, and the Breakwater Blasters, slides with water jets that even propel riders uphill. For thrill-seekers, there’s the Cliffside Cove area with real cliff jumps from heights of 3 and 4.5 meters, while those who prefer to relax can float along the Wandering River, a 240-meter lazy river complete with a bar where you can order a drink directly from the water. There’s also a large children’s play area, Splash Cay, full of slides and featuring a mega bucket that pours hundreds of liters of water in one go.

The inauguration also showcased new culinary offerings at the destination, thanks to the presence of three new food trucks dedicated to grilled meats, seafood, and ice cream, and aperitif stations in collaboration with brands like Aperol, Casamigos, and Coca-Cola. This water park further enriches an island already full of amenities, also featuring the Great Life Lagoon pool, a private adults-only area, luxurious air-conditioned cabanas, and beautiful white sandy beaches where guests can spend the day snorkeling and relaxing.
