Royal Caribbean has announced that its next flagship, Hero of the Seas, will host aboard the first-ever at-sea production of “The SpongeBob Musical”. The Show, previously nominated for 12 Tony Awards and based on Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series, will be staged in the ship’s grand Royal Theater with a re-imagined production designed to engage the whole family.

Christi Coachman, Vice President of Entertainment for the company, emphasized how the choice aims to unite different generations through a story beloved by both adults and children, leveraging the advanced stage technologies of the new onboard theater.

The fourth ship belonging to the Icon Class, Hero of the Seas recently touched water at the Meyer Turku shipyards in Finland, and its official debut is scheduled for August 2027 from the port of Miami. From there, the 250,800-ton giant will set sail for seven-night cruises in the Eastern and Western Caribbean, making calls at Cozumel in Mexico, Roatán in Honduras, Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas, and Philipsburg in St. Maarten. Each itinerary will also include a stop at the private island Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas. With eight themed neighborhoods onboard, the new flagship will offer a large-scale entertainment experience, providing guests with nine pools and Category 6, one of the largest floating water parks in the world.
