Oriental Land Co. (OLC) and Disney Cruise Line have announced in Tokyo the official name of the first ship destined for the Japanese market: Disney Imagination. The ship will debut in spring 2029, sailing from Tokyo, and will mark the official launch of Disney Cruise Line Japan, a new division directly managed by OLC, the company that already owns and operates the Tokyo Disneyland resort. The announcement was celebrated during a special ceremony attended by the leaders of both companies to confirm the brand’s expansion in Asia.

A new unit belonging to the Wish class, Disney Imagination will offer the brand’s usual attractions with live shows, themed dining, and carefully designed services for families. In line with the fleet’s tradition, the stern will feature a sculpture of a character symbolizing the theme of imagination, in this case Ariel from The Little Mermaid, depicted together with Sebastian and her sea friends as she carves the ship’s name with her inseparable “dinglehopper”.

The arrival of this new unit is part of Disney’s global expansion plan, designed to bring the themed cruise experience directly to Japanese and international fans. Further details on the interiors, onboard attractions, and itineraries along the coasts of Japan will be unveiled in the coming months.
