The Board of Directors of the Port of Barcelona has approved the development of the new Terminal C and the extension of the concession to Creuers del Port de Barcelona, part of the Global Ports Holding (GPH) group. The agreement includes an investment of over 50 million euros to build a cruise facility of more than 11,200 square meters on the Adossat pier, within a broader plan with a total value of 104.5 million. The agreement also redefines the duration of the management, which is extended until 2050 with an additional renewal option until 2053.

The new infrastructure places a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability through the installation of solar panels and shore power systems (cold ironing), allowing berthed ships to turn off their engines and connect directly to the local grid to eliminate emissions at berth. As highlighted by Francesc Grau, Regional Director for the Western Mediterranean at GPH, the project is part of the strategic reorganization of the Adossat pier and aims to consolidate the role of the Catalan port among the most efficient and modern cruise hubs internationally.
