The state of Qatar has announced that it has hired two ships from the MSC Cruises fleet – MSC Europa and MSC Poesia – for the 2022 World Cup.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy has, in fact, signed an agreement with MSC Cruises to hire two cruise ships to host football fans during Qatar’s World Cup from 21 November 2022.
The first of the two ships that will be chartered from Qatar – MSC Europa – is currently under construction at the Saint-Nazaire shipyard in France, and will be delivered by 2022, and it will be the flagship in the World Cup year.
It is also the first ship in the MSC Cruises fleet powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas), the cleanest fuel, and will also use this fuel during mooring in Doha.
Right because it is the most environmentally friendly fuel available in the industry today, emissions will be minimized. Moreover, like all the other ships in the MSC fleet, MSC Europe will also have advanced waste and water treatment systems and cutting-edge environmental technologies for reducing emissions and environmental impact.
The two cruise ships, Europa and Poesia, will have a total capacity of 4,000 cabins and will both be moored in the port of Doha. They will be able to offer visitors a spectacular view of the West Bay skyline and will be connected to the main infrastructures and to the Doha subway with shuttle buses to access the sports facilities, their dedicated areas and other Qatari attractions.
“We are pleased that Qatar has chosen our ships by making available to tourists who will visit the country during the next World Cup in Qatar in 2022 high-quality accommodation and services, further enriching their experience in Qatar – said Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Crociere – The event, one of the most famous in the world, will be another opportunity for tourists from all over the world who will come to Doha to be able to experience the international experience that only MSC Cruises can offer “.
