Jannik Sinner on board Explora III: The countdown begins

admin il 30 June 2026

A year ago, some cruise industry insiders – as well as tennis players and fans, including the undersigned – noticed something unusual in the attire of Jannik Sinner’s team. Both Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill, coach and supercoach respectively of the South Tyrolean champion, were wearing a cap with the Explora Journeys logo. It was immediately clear what was happening: even though the official announcement would only come the following month, MSC Group’s luxury cruise company had decided to entrust its image to the ATP world No. 1, recognizing in him the brand’s core values – elegance and discretion – and naming him Global Brand Ambassador.

Since then, the tireless publicity machine of Explora Journeys has used Sinner’s image across all media, from social networks to TV, to announce an event that is finally approaching: the boarding of the greatest Italian tennis player of all time onto the group’s new ship, Explora III. However, it won’t be a mere touch-and-go visit. Unlike in the past, when he had only appeared on Explora ships for a few hours for promotional events, this time his stay will last a full two days: a considerable amount of time for an athlete dealing with a packed schedule.

The dates are confirmed: Sinner will board Explora III from July 24 to 25, 2026, therefore after the end of the Wimbledon Tournament (June 22 – July 12) in which the Italian player participates as the defending champion. In short: for Sinner, it will be an ideal transition from the London grass struggles to the blue hues of the Mediterranean.

The event will take place during Explora III’s “Prelude Journey”, a five-night inaugural mini-cruise that will set sail from Genoa on July 24 and call at the French Riviera before returning to Italy, to Civitavecchia. The allure of a close-up experience with the global tennis icon has generated feverish anticipation, resulting in an inevitable and total sell-out onboard the ship: available spots were entirely booked in a very short time.

During those two days, the atmosphere on Explora III will be marked by a fusion of luxury, well-being, and sports culture. One of the highlights will be the inauguration of the “In Balance” wellness program, an “Ocean Wellness” journey developed in close synergy with Sinner’s athletic staff, focused on conscious movement, therapeutic breathing, and targeted recovery to maximize performance.

According to the company, passengers will be able to participate in exclusive small-group coaching sessions led directly by Sinner’s team. These moments will be alternated with “intimate” encounters, such as a private Q&A session where Sinner will share the secrets (only the revealable ones, needless to say) of his mental preparation and his ascent in the ATP ranking. The culmination of the forty-eight hours will be an elegant gala dinner, the proceeds of which will support the charitable projects of the Jannik Sinner Foundation.
