Explora Journeys enters the river cruise sector

Explora Journeys has signed a Letter of Intent with the Dutch shipyard Den Breejen Shipyard for the construction of its first luxury river vessels, thus marking the brand’s entry into the river travel segment.

“Since its debut,” writes the luxury cruise travel company, part of MSC Group, in a newly released statement, “Explora Journeys has aimed to redefine the way of experiencing sea travel with its Ocean State of Mind philosophy, which combines the freedom and pleasure of discovery by sea with the elegance and sophistication of European hospitality and design.”

Explora Journeys – which will see its fleet of six ships operational by 2028 – now intends to bring this same approach to Europe’s most iconic rivers. The company concludes by stating that “further details on vessel design, onboard experiences, delivery timelines, and initial itineraries will be announced soon.”

Sales are expected to open in 2027.
