Norwegian Cruise Line has modified its plans for the winter 2027-2028 season, repositioning Norwegian Viva to Miami. Consequently, all previously scheduled Southern Caribbean cruises departing from San Juan have been canceled. The company explained that these itinerary changes are sometimes necessary to optimize voyages based on port availability. Passengers affected by these cancellations will receive a full refund and a 10% discount voucher usable for a future cruise by the end of 2027.

Those who still wish to depart from Puerto Rico for the Southern Caribbean can do so aboard sister ship Norwegian Prima, which will maintain its regular itineraries offering the exact same comforts and destinations. Norwegian Viva’s new programming now includes mini-cruises to the Bahamas with fixed stops at Great Stirrup Cay, the company’s private island currently undergoing major expansion work, including the construction of a new docking pier, a water park with 19 slides opening in September, and a large lagoon with overwater bars and adults-only areas.

In Miami, Norwegian Viva will be just one of the protagonists of the 2027-2028 season. Among other ships present in the Florida port will be the brand new Norwegian Aura and Norwegian Luna, with weekly voyages to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, while Norwegian Joy will offer short three or four-night cruises, also to the Bahamas. The ships Jewel and Gem will complete the Miami offerings with longer itineraries, 10 and 11 nights, heading towards Central America and the Southern Caribbean.
