Oceania Cruises has announced a historic breakthrough for the cruise industry by presenting the first entirely gluten-free cruise, scheduled aboard Oceania Vista in 2028. Departing on May 31, the 12-night itinerary will sail from Southampton and visit the United Kingdom and Ireland, calling at celebrated destinations such as Cork, Dublin, Glasgow, Stornoway in the Hebrides, and Edinburgh. The voyage will allow guests with celiac disease or intolerances to enjoy a complete gastronomic experience in total serenity, without the need to check ingredients, verify preparation methods, or fear cross-contamination.

All restaurants on board will adapt their offerings, guaranteeing 100% gluten-free menus, from renowned specialty venues like Toscana, Polo Grill, Red Ginger, and Jacques, to more informal options such as Aquamar Kitchen and Waves Grill. Coverage will be comprehensive throughout the day, including afternoon tea, room service, and fresh pastries baked by The Bakery, thus offering passengers maximum freedom of choice without having to plan their meals in advance based on their dietary needs.

The special cruise was developed in close collaboration with Celiac Cruise, a leading entity in the gluten-free travel sector that provided its expertise to structure a safe environment. As highlighted by Maureen Basye, founder of the organization, the initiative radically transforms the way people with celiac disease travel, allowing them to focus solely on exploring destinations and enjoying shared experiences instead of constantly worrying about food.

The initiative represents an exciting challenge for the company’s team of chefs, who are tasked with demonstrating how an entirely gluten-free culinary offering can maintain extremely high levels of creativity, variety, and quality. Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, emphasized how this project reflects the brand’s philosophy focused on culinary excellence, allowing the gastronomic team to rethink the entire onboard experience in a new light and ensuring every guest the opportunity to savor the best of high-level cuisine at sea.
