Tennis and tourism: Ticketcrociere is Main Sponsor of the new De Wave Open Challenger in Genoa

Ticketcrociere announces its presence as Main Sponsor for the first edition of the De Wave Open Challenger, an ATP Challenger 75 circuit tournament scheduled from September 21st to 27th on the red clay courts of the Park Tennis Club in Genoa. The online travel agency – the leading cruise sales operator in Italy – thus strengthens its bond with the Ligurian territory and with major international sports events.

The debut of the De Wave Open Challenger

The De Wave Open Challenger – which joins Genoa’s other tennis tournament, the Aon Open Challenger Memorial Giorgio Messina, just concluded – will see the participation of athletes ranked within the top 300 of the ATP world ranking. Among the prominent profiles confirmed in the entry list are Germany’s Tom Gentzsch (ATP No. 166), Serbia’s Laslo Djere (former ATP No. 27, now No. 183), Spain’s Roberto Carballés Baena (former No. 49, now 212), and Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro (former No. 61, now 282). The Italian representation relies on the entries of Stefano Travaglia (former No. 60, now No. 158), Francesco Passaro – fresh from the first round at the recent US Open, now 201 in the world seeding – and the 21-year-old Genoese Gianluca Cadenasso, currently world No. 217. The event, organized by Park Tennis Training SRLSD in collaboration with the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP), offers a total prize fund of 107,000 dollars and free public access via numbered digital ticketing.

Tennis and cruises: a winning combination

The De Wave Open Challenger will temporally coincide with the Genoa International Boat Show – scheduled from October 1st to 6th – creating a direct synergy that will help generate significant economic benefits for hotels, restaurants, commercial activities, and city services, during a strategic period for Genoese tourism. The schedule of events will kick off on September 18th with the presentation press conference aboard the ship Costa Toscana, in the Port of Genoa, followed in the subsequent days by the official inauguration of the tournament at the Park Tennis Club, that of the hospitality area, and, among the collateral events, charitable activities planned in favor of the Neonatology Unit of San Martino Hospital. On the concluding day of Sunday, September 27th, following the official awards ceremonies, Ticketcrociere will offer the public a cruise aboard one of the Costa ships.

The organization expects a total presence of over 300 people including athletes, coaches, and technical staff, in addition to the estimated 10,000 spectators at the facilities of the Circolo di via Zara. The matches will be visible worldwide thanks to streaming on the official ATP Challenger Tour platform; the men’s singles final will be broadcast live on the national SuperTennis channel.
