Costa Cruises is still strengthening in the Mediterranean starting from 2020. In the winter of 2020/2021, the company will propose two new 14-day itineraries with Costa Fortuna returning to Turkey and Israel.
The first itinerary will depart from Savona on December 6th, 2020 and February 7th, 2021, by touching Marseilles (France), Barcelona (Spain), Iráklion (Greece), Izmir (Turkey), an overnight stay in Istanbul (Turkey), Athens ( Greece), Palermo and Naples.
The second itinerary will also depart from Savona on January 10th and March 7th, 2021, by touching Marseille (France), Barcelona (Spain), Iráklion (Greece), a stopover overnight in Haifa (Israel), Kusadasi (Turkey), Palermo and Naples.
For the rest of the winter season, Costa Fortuna will offer week-long itineraries in the western Mediterranean, with stops also in Valencia.
The Mediterranean of Costa Cruises
The presence of Costa Cruises in the Mediterranean will grow further thanks to the entry into service of Costa Smeralda and Costa Toscana, the two new flagships currently under construction at the Meyer shipyard in Turku, Finland.
Costa Smeralda, starting from November, 2019, will offer one-week cruises in the western Mediterranean, and will later be flanked by Costa Toscana which will enter service in 2021.
The two ships will mark a turning point in environmental terms, because they will be fed, both in port and at sea, with liquefied natural gas (LNG), the fossil fuel considered the most “clean” in the world, which significantly reduces emissions.
Costa Firenze Anticipates the Departure for Asia
Speaking of new ships, Costa Firenze, under construction in the Fincantieri plant in Marghera, will anticipate positioning in Asia. Costa Firenze and its twin Costa Venezia, which entered service last March, are in fact the first Costa ships designed specifically for the Chinese market, where the Italian company entered in 2006.
After the delivery scheduled for September 30, 2020, Costa Firenze will route directly to China, skip the cruises to Italy, France and Spain scheduled for October, 2020.
Following these changes, in the winter 2020/21 Costa Mediterranea will take the place of Costa Fortuna, offering the same itineraries from Singapore to the discovery of Cambodia, Malaysia and Thailand.
Other Changes to the Costa Cruises Program
The company is planning to make some changes to the Costa Victoria program after September 9th, 2020, and to the Costa Luminosa program in the Caribbean in winter 2020/21, which are therefore no longer available for booking.
Costa Cruises is providing travel agencies and guests with information, to ensure alternative solutions. Guests who have already booked a cruise from Singapore on the Costa Fortuna for the winter 2020/21 will be re-seated on the Costa Mediterranea.
Guests booked on Costa Victoria cruises in India and Maldives, Costa Mediterranea in the Indian Ocean, Costa Luminosa in the Caribbean and Costa Firenze in the Mediterranean and on positioning, will have the opportunity to choose within the Costa Crociere product portfolio and will benefit from a 10% discount on their choice.
