Within two years Royal Caribbean International will open its first Royal Beach Club on the island of Antigua, in an area of about 800 meters in front of the sea near Fort James. The Royal Beach Club will be inaugurated in 2021 which will combine the beaches of the island with the exclusive service of the ships of the Rccl fleet.
The project was endorsed by the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the cruise company and the government of Antigua and Barbuda
The Antigua one is the first in the Royal Beach Club collection, which will be designed taking inspiration from the peculiarities of each destination. On the Caribbean island, guests can admire the scenery from private cabanas or swim in the pool, order a rum cocktail to the bar.
“The Royal Beach Club Collection is a new adventure that we can’t wait to reveal to our guests – said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International – We found some incredible partners in the government of Antigua and Barbuda to give life to the first structure of our collection. Together we are developing an experience that will bring more visitors to these paradise islands, creating significant economic benefits and employment opportunities for the years to come. “
The concept of the Royal Beach Club is inspired by the success of Perfect Day at CocoCay, the private island of Rccl in the Bahamas inaugurated in May 2019, although guests in Antigua and Barbuda will live a different experience. “With Royal Beach Club we offer the opportunity to spend a day on a beautiful beach, completing it with services and activities – Bayley added – Each Club will offer local food and music, family activities and personalized attractions with opportunities for recreation for our guests”.
The growth of the cruise sector is evident and according to the CCR in the Caribbean, in particular, will increase in the order of 50% in the next decade. With private land-based destinations, such as the Perfect Day at Lelepa, in the South Pacific in Vanuatu, and the Royal Beach Club, the company is expanding its offering along with its fleet of ships.
It’s early to talk about the design of the Royal Beach Club in Antigua, but there will be plenty of activities planned in the destination, including live music and barbecues, paddle boarding, snorkeling, splash pads for families and a pool with a water bar.
